Use Bed Guards To Protect Your Children

The role of a bed guard is to prevent a toddler (eiderdown and cuddlies) from rolling off the bed. The bed safety rail is put along the open side(s) of a bed and creates a barrier which a young child can roll up against. Bed guards are most frequently used when a young child is transitioning from a cot, with sides, to a ‘big bed’. Typically this transition takes place when a child is between the ages of 2 and 4 years. The traditional bed guards either have a metal or plastic frame with a mesh insert or are made of wood. They come in a variety of colours and finishes but all work in the same way. They have to be assembled and then fixed under the base of the bed using screws and clamps. They are cumbersome, heavy and expensive. There is, however, a revolutionary alternative to this. It is The Bed Bumper This new option is a metre of polyurethane foam and it is placed directly onto the unmade bed. The bed is then made up using normal bed sheets leaving the bumper securely in place on the mattress. The foam ‘grips’ the cotton in the mattress and so, once the bed is remade, The Bed Bumper will stay in place all night long. This new foam bed guard is delivered ready to be put straight onto the bed, no construction is required and as it sits under the sheets a child could not get caught in it. The foam is pale yellow and sits discreetly under the sheets with no show through. The new bed rail is ideal for any bed and any age or size of child as it can be bought in a range of sizes. It is so light it can easily be taken out of the home and used on airbeds as easily as a normal bed at Grannies house. The Bed Bumper is simple to bend and compress into any luggage and won’t add any noticeable extra load. Bed guards in the UK must pass the UK Standard BS 7972 before they can be sold.
